Local Authors
We’re proud to offer a great selection of novels, story collections and biographies written by local authors at JJ Books. Most of our featured local authors are from right here in the Greater Seattle area, and we also have several from other Pacific Northwest locales. Local author genres range from children’s stories, to young adult, to self-help/religious, to biographies.
Below are a few of our current featured titles. Be sure to check our events page for exclusive local author book signing events.

Ann Charles

For her first book, Nearly Departed in Deadwood, she won the 2010 National Daphne du Maurier for Excellence in Mystery/Suspense award AND the 2011 National Romance Writers of America Golden Heart award. The Owl Wrangler
Imagine a world where an itinerant clan of five-inch forest elves camps amongst the roots of towering fir trees. When Gollsaer, the clan’s Owl Wrangler mysteriously disappears, his teenage son Hisbil must take on the perilous duty or face exile from the clan. Wanting to clear his father’s name, Hisbil gets help from his pesky little sister, who can heal with a touch, a pretty and clairvoyant classmate, who knows what’s on Hisbil’s mind before he does, and an exiled clansman whose motives are far from pure. Armed with little more than a wand, an old broken sword and an awakening spell he’s never used, Hisbil and his elven cohorts endure a harrowing odyssey of danger, deception, betrayal, and battle until Hisbil finally discovers the real truth about his calling, his father and his clan.
Submarine Warriors The Enemy Beneath
Follow literature’s next generation of young heroes as they take command of a nuclear submarine to brave the ocean depths and battle the deadly Underworlders to save their fathers. “The Enemy Beneath” is the first volume of the “Submarine Warriors” series where a group of middle-school friends from the Pacific Northwest must transform into submariners when they are confronted by an enemy threatening the survival of mankind.
Evergreen Crossing
Derek Stoddard, a devoted husband and father, was returning home from a business trip in Montana when a freak coincidence caused his plane to crash. The lone survivor, he found himself traveling much farther than he could have ever imagined. It wasn’t so much a trip of distance as it was a journey through time.
Now finding himself in a world he had only read and dreamed about, he had to figure out a way to get back home. It was so close, yet so far, and seemed an impossible task! Comfortable in his new surroundings, he wasn’t always positive it was something he really wanted to do, because he had met some remarkable characters, and had experienced more in a very short time than he could have possibly imagined. But there was his young daughter, Katy, and he knew he had to somehow get back to her, even if it meant leaving this dream world behind. But how could he contact her?
